Especially don’t courtesy wave if the light is green and a log truck is behind you. Being SC, everyone was in the left lane, while I was in the right lane traveling towards the intersection, when I come around the logging truck to an 18 wheeler pulli ng across my lane. I’m just glad I was in a work truck.
So next time you complain that modern trucks are too tall, join them or suck it up, because it saved my life. Eighteen wheelers aren’t going anywhere, and they certainly aren’t paying attention.

Holy shit dude, are you okay?

Yep, I’m fine somehow . I hit it at 40.

Jeebuz that was a good hit. I’m glad you are okay. RIP the 1-ton RAM.

This truck will still sell for $35,000

It drove off the road, and the frame is fine. It’ll be back on the road I'm sure.

I know what I got

As long as they look at the miles and not the idle hours. But it’ll likely be repaired. The frame is fine.

Glad you’re ok. Until they put traffic lights in near my son’s school, people would courtesy wave all of the time. At least every other month, there was a major roll- over type collision there. Man, I hate the courtesy wave.

I swear courtesy waves can cause more trouble than most think..just drive to the rules of the road, no need to be nice especially if you have the right of way. An old man was almost rear ended last week letting me out of a left turn, it’s silly.
Hope you feel alright, get a drink!

I worked with somebody who drove a company truck straight into a tree, when he was driving in through the entrance gate and decided to turn and wave at another employee driving out. Fortunately, it was an ‘80s Suburban, so damage was negligible.

Yikes! Glad you're ok and you were in a work truck!

Yep. On one hand, the Corvette would have likely stopped. On the other hand, if it didn’t...

That’ll buff rig ht out... and the courtesy wave is the work of the devil, 100% success rate for front row tickets to mayhem. Glad you are OK, logging trucks are high on my list of nopes.

Funny I thought the fantom trailer would of took some of the hit.

Fortunately, the logging truck was just my blind spot. I hit a box trailer.

With you on the courtesy wave. Stopped at a 4-way stop on my bicycle the other day and, since I was last to the intersection (and by far the slowest) , tried to wait my turn. One lady tried to wave me through but the F-1 50 across from her wasn’t on board. It’s definitely never a good idea.
Glad you were in something hefty enough to take that. Anyone get a ticket?

Hardy Har Har. I was pulling a trailer this morning, I'm not re-adjusting the mirrors when it was going to tow again.

Very g lad that you are okay, and were in the work truck. Hopefully no residual physical problems will appear for you.
My company is preparing to allow people back in the offices (I don’t plan to do that until I have no other choice) and mentioned that people could use the work shared vehicles, sanitizing before and after use. I told my wife that I’m not going to bother with that, but will just use our cars and get reimbursed for miles
. . . but I’m someone kind of unusual in my company because I prefer
to use the company vehicles on company business in case there is an accident. Then it’s not my problem, other than the mandatory drug test.
I have p referr ed using company vehicles e ver since I had a co-worker get rear-ended delivering plans in his own vehicle . . . and then that was reinforced two weeks after getting the GTI and running over the retread while traveling for work and having almost $3, 000 in damage on my own insurance. (No company vehicle available that day.)

What we really need are proper and effective under-riding prevention bars on the sides as well as the on the backs of all tractor-trailers designed to line up with the average *car* bumper.
It’s a disgrace that the trucking industry continues to get a free safety pass on this.
Glad you’re okay.

I’m getting a little sore now, but I kind of saw the wreck was going to happen and tensed up, so I'm sure I will be more sore tomorrow. Oh well. Are you recovered from your surgery?

I assume the trucker did, since he failed to yield and did so where he couldn’t see. The trucker told the officer I was speeding(I wasn’t). The officer told me this, along with “It wouldn’t matter how fast you were going, he was in the wrong.”

I hit the front corner, so an under-rider wouldn't help. He actually had one on his truck.
![]() 04/27/2020 at 18:16 |

That was from hitting his front corner? Hmmm... that makes me wonder even more about the design of large trucks.
![]() 04/27/2020 at 18:18 |

Glad you're ok
![]() 04/27/2020 at 18:20 |

That is also the extent of the damage for him.
![]() 04/27/2020 at 18:27 |
|
Ah, I see.
And BTW... those things you see on the side aren’t under-ride prevention guards. Those are to make the trailer more aerodynamic and likely won’t do squat from a safety perspective.

Glad you were not injured!
But you can stop faster if you werent towing that ghost trailer

Thanks! You’re only number 3 for the day!

I mean if dodge would just make them go in automatically.
Large truck safety has come a long way. Used to be they were deathtraps

Sorry I had to make the joke. But seriously I’m glad you are ok. Shit gets scary when a semi is involved. Hope there was no code brown.

I’m functional, but not fully healed yet. I have to be careful to avoid using it more than i’m supposed to. Follow up visit in two more weeks.
Yeah, tensing up is usually not helpful.

Eh, I'd still have to adjust them each movement. Might as well leave them out for the couple of days in between.

No code brown, I literally said “well shit” when I realized I wasn’t stopping.

That sucks ! Those trailers can give some lumps . Here’s a cab that rear-ended a trailer in front of it. It was rendered undriv able, and the tow to get it out of traffic was more of a drag.
